Hyo Joo Kim was awarded the 2014 KLPGA Rookie of the Year and was the MVP of the 2014 Korea-Japan National Match. She grabbed her first golf club when she was seven years old on her way to register for a taekwondo academy.
She won the 2014 Evian Championship while setting the record for lowest 18-hole score at a major with a 61 in the first round. The 2014 Evian Championship was her first major appearance. She later accepted membership on the LPGA Tour for 2015.
Kim recorded four top-10 finishes in 22 starts in 2017, including a season-best T7 finish at the Ricoh Women’s British Open. In 2018, she finished runner-up to Ariya Jutanugarn in a four-hole playoff at the U.S. Women’s Open. She is champion of 2021 HSBC Women’s World Championship.
