Hyo Joo Kim is the defending champion of 2022 HSBC Women’s World Championship. She was awarded the 2014 KLPGA Rookie of the Year and was the MVP of the 2014 Korea-Japan National Match. She grabbed her first golf club when she was seven years old on her way to register for a taekwondo academy.
She won the 2014 Evian Championship while setting the record for lowest 18-hole score at a major with a 61 in the first round. The 2014 Evian Championship was her first major appearance. She later accepted membership on the LPGA Tour for 2015.
Kim recorded four top-10 finishes in 22 starts in 2017, including a season-best T7 finish at the Ricoh Women’s British Open. In 2018, she finished runner-up to Ariya Jutanugarn in a four-hole playoff at the U.S. Women’s Open.
