Hyo Joo Kim was awarded the 2014 KLPGA Rookie of the Year and was the MVP of the 2014 Korea-Japan National Match. She grabbed her first golf club when she was seven years old on her way to register for a taekwondo academy. Kim’s coach, Han Yunhee, has been with her since sixth grade of elementary school.
Kim recorded four top-10 finishes in 22 starts in 2017, including a season-best T7 finish at the Ricoh Women’s British Open. In 2018, she finished runner-up to Ariya Jutanugarn in a four-hole playoff at the U.S. Women’s Open.
