A former World Amateur Number One, he won the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship and played in the 2013 Walker Cup. Matt claimed his European Tour card at the 2014 Qualifying School and shone in his rookie season, finishing runner-up in Omega European Masters in Switzerland before claiming his maiden title after going wire-to-wire at the British Masters. He won twice in 2016 at the Nordea Masters and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, en route to a career-best sixth place finish in the Race to Dubai and securing his debut in The 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National. Fitzpatrick captured his fourth European Tour victory with his win at the 2017 Omega European Masters, and followed that up by successfully defending his title at Crans-sur-Sierre in 2018 thanks to a play-off victory over Lucas Bjerregaard. Fitzpatrick will be competing at the WGC-HSBC Champions for the fourth time, he has played the event for three consecutive years and has finished inside the Top 16 every year he has competed.
