Willett joined the European Tour in the 2009 season. His rookie year was a successful one finishing 58th in the Race to Dubai as well as 8 top-10s. This included a fifth position finish at the 2010 BMW PGA Championship, winning 190,800 euro. Following this performance, Willett moved into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings and his 2009 finished ranked 23rd on the Order of Merit.
