ESP

DOB: 13/10/80
Height: 6ft 1in
Tournament Wins: 7

In 2005 Gonzalo抯 first year on tour, he won the KLM Open and the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award. In 2006 he went on to win the BMW Asian Open, which was co-sanctioned by the European and the Asian Tour. 2007 saw him win his third European Tour tournament, the Italian Open. He had one win on tour in 2008 at the Quinn Insurance British Masters.

2009 did not consist of any victories for Gonzalo but he finished runner up numerous times including the Estoril Open de Portugal after losing in a playoff to Michael Hoey. He also finished runner-up the next week to Scott Strange at the Volvo China Open. At the Ballantine's Championship he finished runner up for a third week in a row after, where he lost to Thongchai Jaidee in a 3-way playoff. He ended the season ranked 17th on the Race to Dubai.

Most recently in November 2011, Fernandez-Casta駉 found victory again when he won at the Barclays Singapore Open in a playoff.

Since 2005 Gonzalo hasn抰 failed to finish inside the Top 60 of the Race to Dubai and his BMW Italian Open win in September 2012 ensured his latest season on the European tour is unlikely to buck this trend.
